Edgbaston Priory Club has agreed a new sponsorship deal to support the development of Harborne Cricket Club’s youth.
Harborne CC has an active youth membership, with more than 250 boy and girl players, and ten competitive teams. The funds will help support the 8-15 year-old up and coming players.
Edgbaston Priory Club was founded more than 130 years ago and today has a thriving community of 3,000 members who enjoy playing racquet sports and enhancing their fitness and well-being in outstanding facilities.
Matt Rawnsley, chief executive at the Edgbaston Priory Club, said: “We are committed to igniting a passion for sport among young people within our community. Our award-winning community tennis and squash scheme has introduced more than 3,000 children to racquet sport in Cannon Hill Park and local schools. Our tie up with Harborne CC brings two historic sporting clubs together with a joint mission to encourage young people to be active.”
Harborne CC is the largest cricket club in the Midlands. Founded in 1868, the club fields seven Saturday and four Sunday sides.
Malcolm Willcox, president and chairman of the Club, said: “We are thrilled to have the support of one of Birmingham’s great sporting institutions as we seek to nurture the next generation of young cricketers. Our thanks to Matt Rawnsley and his team at Edgbaston Priory Club.”
